Filter Category and Type The filter category and type of lens are indicated on the packaging, on the barcode sticker near the symbol *, or as the last two characters of the model code printed on the temple of the frame. The number represents the filter category and ranges from 0 (very limited sun glare protection) to 4 (very high protection). The letter indicates the lens type: ‘N’ stands for normal lenses, ‘P’ for polarized, and ‘F’ for photochromic. For photochromic lenses, if only one number is indicated, it refers to the category in bright light conditions; in low light, the category may be lower. If two numbers are indicated, they refer to the filter categories in bright and low light conditions respectively.
